Melissa Black

 

 

Melissa Martell Black's poems explore the social landscape of the Central Valley.
Her work has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize, and she has read her poems widely, ranging from the San Francisco Book Festival to the Porterville Library.
She grew up in the Central Valley and attended the University of Redlands (BA,
English) and San Francisco State University (MA, Literature). She worked for the Poetry Center and American Poetry Archives at San Francisco State and is now a professor of English at Porterville College.
She lives in Lemon Cove.
